A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure designed to remove and tighten excess skin and fatty tissue from the neck for a more youthful and attractive appearance.

During surgery, a relatively small incision is made to remove excess, sagging skin and unwanted fatty tissue. The remaining skin is then tightened. This aesthetic operation is usually performed under general anesthesia. It can be performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis at our clinic.

As with other tightening operations, such as the lower facelift, there are various surgical methods for removing excess skin and fat deposits during a neck lift.
By far the most common and long-lasting method is to tighten the skin and the underlying superficial skin muscle on the neck. This so-called platysma muscle becomes visible when tensed. The medical tightening is performed through a incision in the skin, which is later hidden in the folds in front of the ear and at the neck hairline.
The skin on the neck and the so-called platysma are loosened (mobilized) on both sides up to the middle of the neck. The subsequent tightening is performed diagonally upwards towards the ear and neck area. For a good result, in some cases the muscle edges of the platysma muscle, which are responsible for the formation of the neck bands, are exposed and sutured in the midline. This is done through a small incision on the underside of the chin.
In addition and depending on the indication, the lower tissue can also be prepared during this procedure using the SMAS method in order to achieve a particularly natural and long-lasting tightening effect.
In addition, an anterior or direct neck lift can be performed if there is a lot of excess skin under the chin, known in Germany as a ‘double chin’. In this procedure, the excess skin is defined and tightened vertically on the front of the neck through a fine zigzag incision. Alternatively, it is also possible to tighten the lower jaw through a bow-shaped incision along the jawline.
Depending on the extent of the planned tightening, the treatment can be performed under sedation or general anesthesia, whereby the latter is more often the case in aesthetic surgery.
How does a neck lift help?
A neck lift has a visually rejuvenating effect that applies to the entire face. The aim of the operation is to reverse visible signs of ageing. Not only is the skin tightened to remove sagging cheeks, but the jawline and chin area can also be redefined and beautifully contoured.

How much does a neck lift cost?
There are many different methods to rejuvenate the neck aesthetically. The costs vary accordingly.
A minimally invasive injection with fillers is the cheapest way to tighten the skin. The costs for this start at around 500 euros.
A direct neck lift via a zigzag incision in the front of the neck costs between 2,500 and 3,500 euros.
A neck lift with incisions behind the ear, usually in combination with a cheek-neck lift, costs between 8,000 and 15,000 euros.
We are happy to calculate the cost of additional aesthetic procedures such as autologous fat transfers to increase volume in the face or a supplementary upper or lower eyelid blepharoplasty on request.
